Fun Travel Facts

In the past decade, Americans have traveled 10% more than in the previous ten years. In fact, according to the FAA, just under three million passengers arrive in and depart out of airports across the US daily. Perhaps this describes you, at this very moment. Whether you’re in the airport or planning a trip, let’s keep you entertained with some fun travel facts!

Jet Lag

The longer the flight, the more jet lag you expect to experience. However, the feeling is heightened when you fly east as opposed to any other direction.

Hydration Needed

For every hour you are in flight, the equivalent of a cup of water from your body is lost. To help avoid jet lag, you will want to avoid dehydration. So, sip up!

Keeps The Doctor Away

It is not uncommon to use your vacation time to get super relaxed. What you may not know is that all that reclining and fun is good for your heart. Studies show a vacation overwhelmingly tends to reduce stress. However, reclining in an airplane is a whole other subject.

From Paris, With Love

It shouldn’t come as a surprise that one of the most romantic cities in the world is part of the most traveled-to country. France beats everywhere in the number of tourists. By contrast, the island nation of Nauru is the least visited country. Less than 150 people travel there annually.

Frequent Flyer

The busiest airline is American Airlines with more than 100,000 flights in a month. However, the honor of highest rated would go to Qatar Airways. As far as airports go in 2020, three of the top 10 busiest are in the US. The other seven are in China.

Must-See Spots

The most frequented landmark is The Forbidden City in Beijing, China. Over 17 million walk through each year. The number of people going to see this ancient place is more than double how many people check out the second most visited, the Palace of Versailles. Located just outside of Paris, France, Versailles was once home to up to 10,000 of the aristocracy, and now has over eight million who come to relive the past during the year. Versailles just so happens to also be my favorite place ever.
