Movie Releases – April 2018

What’s coming to the theatre in April? There’s 46 movies being released! If you’re like me, you haven’t heard of most of these. Here’s each one, the release date, and some info!

But Deliver Us From Evil – Sci-Fi

– Lilith, biblical Adam’s first wife, has come back for revenge after having been excommunicated for wanting too much power in the Garden of Eden.

A Quiet Place – Suspense
John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Noah Jupe
– Catastrophic disaster survivors, a family, is forced to stay silent to avoid being found and hunted by monsters who will take their lives.
Chappaquiddick -True Story
Jason Clarke, Kate Mara, Ed Helms
– Story of Ted Kennedy’s involvement in the death of reporter Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign strategist.
Blockers – Comedy
Leslie Mann, John Cena, Ike Barinholtz
– A group of parents get into some crazy shenanigans to ensure their prom going teens do not lose their virginity after the event in question.
You Were Never Really Here – Thriller
Joaquin Phoenix, Ekaterina Samsonov, Alex Manette
– Hitman falls into a thick plot of chaos while trying to rescue a girl from prostitution.
The Miracle Season – Sports
Helen Hunt, William Hurt, Danika Yarosh
– After the tragic death of team captain, the high school volleyball team must find inspiration within themselves
Spinning Man – Psychological Thriller
Guy Pearce, Pierce Brosnan, Minnie Driver
– A young lady goes missing in a small town. The male accused can’t remember details about why she was in his car. Did he do it?
The Endless – Sci-Fi
Justin Benson, Aaron Moorhead, Emily Montague
– 2 guys go back to this outdoor community that they had been to. Seem to have close relationships but a lot of strange, unexplainable things are going on. Creepy.
The Humanity Bureau – Sci-Fi
Nicolas Cage, Sarah Lind, Jakob Davies
– The future is set in desperation where America has run out of resources. Nicolas Cage is sent to meet with people but is fed the scary truth and decides to leave in a bout of action.
Sun Dogs – Comedy
Michael Angarano, Melissa Benoist, Allison Janney
– This Netflix original is about a marine who is looking for and chasing clues about al qaeda here in America. Not sure what’s real, people placate to him.
Pandas – IMAX
– Kristen Bell narrates the journey of being chosen as a baby panda to getting acclimated to the wild.
Sweet Country – Western
Sam Neill, Bryan Brown, Hamilton Morris
– A military outsider mistreats other ethnicities at a ranch and subsequently killed for it. The man who did it in self defense runs, he’s then chased and accused of murder.
Lean on Pete – Drama
Charlie Plummer, Chloë Sevigny, Steve Buscemi
– A sort of orphaned teen develops a strong bond with a race horse that isn’t performing up to par. To avoid never seeing Lean On Pete again, the teen runs away and takes the horse with him across America.

Beirut War – Drama
Rosamund Pike, Jon Hamm, Shea Whigham
– Jon Hamm plays a damaged negotiator and is sent to Beirut to help the situation where he gets involved with a man who wants his murderous brother returned.

Rampage – Sci-Fi
Dwayne Johnson, Naomie Harris, Jake Lacy
– Dwayne Johnson’s character has taken care of gorilla George since he was a baby. Something has exposed George to chemicals that impact his DNA and cause extreme growth, but he’s not the only animal with this problem. It culminates in destruction of a downtown where the enormous animals fight it out with the Rock’s help.
Blumhouse’s Truth Or Dare – Supernatural
Lucy Hale, Tyler Posey, Violett Beane
– A terrifying twist on popular game, Truth or Dare.
Sgt. Stubby: An American Hero – Animation
Gérard Depardieu, Helena Bonham Carter
– True story about the most decorated canine in American military history and his time serving in WWI.
Wildling – Horror
Liv Tyler, Brad Dourif, Bel Powley
– A teen is found by Liv Tyler’s officer character and is taken in until more info can be discovered. The teen seems to be afraid of Wildlings because of stories told to her as a child. She was told she was the last child left, or maybe he meant she was also a wildling?
Bus Party To Hell – Horror
Tara Reid, Sadie Katz, Devanny Pinn
– Tara Reid runs out in front of a party bus for a bachelorette group. Not sure if she is the evil or brings it or is running from it but suddenly it’s there. Monsters, gore.
Sign Gene – Superhero
Emilio Insolera, Ben Bahan, Vava
– There’s a new superhero class who are deaf and the movie is in sign language but unfortunately the trailers I saw did not have captions so, not sure what’s going on.
The Rider – Drama
Brady Jandreau, Tim Jandreau, Lilly Jandreau
– A young man was a rodeo rider and was seriously injured. He’s seeming kind of lost during his recovery when he finds a horse that he bonds with and decides to ride again.
Baja Road Trip – Thriller
Jake Thomas, Chris Brochu, Arienne Mandi
– An RV is borrowed and taken on a trip laden with mishaps and problems.
Zama – Drama
Daniel Gimenez Cacho, Lola Duenas, Matheus Nachtergaele
– Spanish speaking historical drama about Don Diego de Zama who is hunting down group of men who are terrorizing a settlement.
An Ordinary Man – Drama
Ben Kingsley, Peter Serafinowicz, Hera Hilmar
– Ben Kingsley plays a wanted man on the move who is a criminal of war and accidentally runs into an innocent maid. They form a team while evading capture.

Who’s Jenna – Comedy
Vincent Pastore, Tracey Birdsall, Bill Sorvino
– A man starts dating a woman who looks an awful lot like a porn star and it causes problems with his job.

This Is Our Land – Drama
Emilie Dequenne
– French speaking political drama about the dark side of the party at the center.

Duck Duck Goose – Animation
Jim Gaffigan, Carl Reiner, Stephen Fry
– This bird just can’t grow up and fly right. In an act of trying to be different, and not fly in V formation, he gets lost from his flock and comes into contact with two baby ducks who need help finding theirs.
Super Troopers 2 – Comedy
Kevin Heffernan, Paul Soter, Steve Lemme
– As it turns out, a part of Canadian land is actually American. The troopers are replacing a group of Mounties and discovering Canada.
Dolphins – Nature
– Owen Wilson narrates an exploration of dolphin life
The House of Tomorrow – Coming of Age
Asa Butterfield, Nick Offerman, Ellen Burstyn
– A young man has been sheltered by his over protective grandmother all his life until he meets other teens like him. Suddenly he’s introduced to punk music and exciting adventures his grandmother will not approve of.
Corbin Nash – Thriller
Dean S. Jagger, Corey Feldman, Richard Wagner
– Cop is looking to find the killer of his parents but runs into what seem to be a group of vampires whom he needs to destroy with a wooden stake, apparently he becomes one but still is on a mission.
The Devil and Father Amorth – Documentary
Gabriele Amorth
– Director of The Exorcist films Vatican exercist Father Amorth as he performs an exorcism and talks to experts in various fields for their opinion on the phenomena.
Ghost Stories – Horror
Martin Freeman, Andy Nyman, Paul Whitehouse
– Ghostly situations are being investigated by a skeptic who finds himself in a ghost story of his own.
Gray Matter – Thriller
Alys Crocker, Shaun Mazzocca, Tara Elizabeth
– A deadly alien invasion is threatening life in a small town.

Avengers: Infinity War – Sci-Fi
Robert Downey Jr., Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson
– Thanos has come to wreak havoc on the world and the Avengers team is expanding.
Animal Crackers – Animation
Emily Blunt, John Krasinski, Danny DeVito
– This family has had enough routine and end up coming into possession of a circus. Through the use of magic animal crackers, they bring the show to life.
I Feel Pretty – Comedy
Amy Schumer, Michelle Williams, Emily Ratajkowski
– Amy Schumer plays a woman who lacks appreciation for herself and just wants to be hot. From the results of an injury, she finds her self perception has changed and suddenly she is thrilled with her looks.
Traffik – Thriller
Paula Patton, Missi Pyle, William Fichtner
– 2 couples on a retreat to the woods finds themselves sucked into a violent gang of traffickers and attempt to escape alive.
Disobedience – Adaptation
Rachel Weisz, Rachel McAdams, Alessandro Nivola
– Rachel Weisz’s character comes back to her Jewish home after her father’s passing. She had been shunned for living outside the religious life. She comes into contact with another woman whom she had a history with. The two cannot keep themselves from one another despite the consequences.
Kings – Drama
Halle Berry, Daniel Craig, Lamar Johnson
– LA, 1992 in the wake of officers being found not guilty in the Rodney King verdict, violence increases and a mom, played by Halle Berry, struggles to keep her sons safe.
Selfie Dad – Christian
James Denton, Johnny Pacar, Chonda Pierce
– Christian dad on his journey for more Jesus.
Backstabbing for Beginners – Political
Ben Kingsley, Theo James, Belçim Bilgin
– Ben Kingsley plays the head of a corporation that is supposed to be helping those in need in war torn areas but instead is using it for profit. A young man who works for him has been approached to get more info and discovers all kinds of shady dealings.
Armed – Thriller
Mario Van Peebles, William Fichtner, Ryan Guzman
– A man at war with his past and perception of reality finds himself in constant battle.
Jet Trash – Thriller
Robert Sheehan, Osy Ikhile, Sofia Boutella
– Quite a lot of criminal chaos.
The Escape of Prisoner 614 – Crime
Martin Starr, Ron Perlman, Jake McDorman
– 2 deputies whose jobs are being abolished take an opportunity to rebuild their careers by tracking down and bringing in a prisoner who was accused of killing a law enforcement officer. After convincingly professing his innocence, the deputies are faced with saving their jobs or helping an innocent man.
Let the Sunshine In – Romantic Comedy
Juliette Binoche, Gérard Depardieu, Xavier Beauvois
– French speaking situation where a woman is getting lost in sleeping with married or unavailable men and forgetting what’s most important – herself.
